Shibetsu Prehistoric Sites guided tour
Time required: 2 hours 30 min(Approx. 2.5 km route that takes in the marsh, a boardwalk and a woodland trail)
Season: Apr. 29–Nov. 23
Departure times: 9:30 and 13:30 *irregular tours are implemented in other periods
Tour fee: 2,500 yen (includes guide fee, insurance and admission fee)
Reception/meeting place: in front of the Po River Historical Nature Park Visitor Center
Notes for those participating in the tours
- ・Please wear loose-fitting, slightly water resistant clothing, and shoes that are suitable for walking.
- ・The tour involves a standard walk; those who are able to negotiate stairs can participate.
- ・The canoeing tour is suitable for novices but all participants must wear a life jacket.
- ・In order to be able to wear a life jacket, participants must be at least 120 cm tall.
- ・The tours are not suitable for wheelchair or pushchair users.
- ・Please arrive at least 10 minutes before departure time.
- ・Tours may be cancelled due to inclement weather (strong winds, heavy rain, etc.) or bear sightings.
- ・Rainwear is not provided. Please bring your own (a raincoat is recommended) during wet weather.
- ・Sufficient insect measures are necessary. Please wear long sleeves and long pants, and bring along an insect repellent spray.
- ・Please use the toilet before departing on the tour.
- ・Do not collect fauna and flora, or take them from the park.
- ・No smoking within the park.
- ・Please do not bring pets into the park.
Canoeing tour of the primitive Po River
Required time: 2 hours (canoeing for approx. 3.5 km)
Season: June to October (advance confirmation required)
Tour fee: 6,000 yen (includes guide fee, insurance and admission fee)
Reservations required at least 2 days in advance
